First Aid in the Mountains

Teambuilding with Practical Experience

We will teach you how to help members of your group in case of injury or unforeseen events in the mountains while hiking or cycling. We will teach you some “magic tricks” with an isothermal (emergency) blanket.

You can also use these skills in everyday life for effective treatment of the injured at work, in a car accident, or another emergency. We will also show you what a “real” first aid kit should contain. This course can be held both indoors and outdoors.

The system of this first aid is based on the military system MARCH or its civilian version CABC.

The course is led by experienced instructors in the field of emergency medicine, who have gained extensive experience and knowledge not only in Slovakia but also abroad (USA, BELGIUM, GERMANY, IRAQ, AFGHANISTAN).

Course Content

What will you learn in the course?

Goals of first aid
Basic vital functions (anatomy and physiology) and their diagnosis
Basic resuscitation (BLS – Basic Life Support) theory + practical training in rescue breathing (artificial ventilation) and external chest compressions by one and two rescuers.
Resuscitation training on adult, child, and infant mannequins.
Automated defibrillation (AED) theory and practical use training (on request, not standard)
Prevention and first aid for shock
First aid for drowning
First aid for incidents related to diving (on request, not standard)
First aid for airway obstruction by a foreign object and Heimlich maneuver training on a mannequin
Recovery position – theory + practical training
First aid for injuries (including treatment of fractures, bleeding, etc.)
First aid for external bleeding

Material and Technical Equipment of the Course

What we will use and work with

Computer, data projector, teaching materials with photos and videos from different first aid fields.

Bandaging material, training aids for treating injuries and fractures.

2 Ambu mannequins electronically controlled for basic resuscitation training, one of the mannequins with rhythm disturbance simulation and the possibility to practice automated defibrillation. (for an extra surcharge for medical professional courses)

AED training device for automated defibrillation practice.

Infant and prepubescent child mannequins for CPR training with effectiveness detectors for chest compressions and artificial breathing.

Training device for practicing the Heimlich maneuver for airway obstruction by a foreign body.

Artificial limb for training intravenous access. (for an extra surcharge for medical professional courses)
